Doll shop updated

Well, it took 3 coats of ivory to cover all the blue trim (and four for the door!) but I am happy with how it has come out.

Now all I need to do is get the pastels out and age some bits of the wallpaper and the shelf wallpaper and I can stick the units in. They will need hardware, as I don't think I'll use what came with it. The counter (which I don't have) will be pink to match the back wall with the door in it. And debating installing a little fireplace on the left wall. I might try making a valance or something for the window tonight seeing as I am on a roll!

It is amazing how many different iterations this little shop has had and never been finished. But I guess if you just keep painting, you will eventually get something you like! PS - I think it also needs a painted footpath out the front as it currently looks terrible!! (Yes I used it as a paint palette)

  1. What a lovely shade of green you've come up with - it looks much warmer.

    1. Thanks Irene. Not sure it entirely matches the wallpaper, although there is green in the wallpaper, but it will be fine. Once I get little tous in there, it won't matter so much. Xx

  3. I love it!! I have to say, I saw this post pop up first (because I'm late) and couldn't wait to see what you had done. The colours are wonderful. Removing those two shelves has created a nice height in the corner cabinet for lovely mini things. I love how this room has changed and developed over time.

    1. Thanks Si. It has certainly changed! A lot! Those shelves were just too close together, which just didn't fit my mini toys. I am liking it more and more, and with accessories, I think it will all start tying in together a bit better!

    1. Hi Vivian! Thank you! I am sure one day it will be *finished* - although it's important to leave space for more tiny toys as I find them!

    1. Thanks Jenn! Hummed and hawwed over them for a bit, as the left ones were clearly purchased so I had to come up with something that kind of fit. I am pretty happy with it. The differences won't be noticable when it has filled shelves.

  7. When I went back and had a look at what your storage units looked like before, I have to say that you had done a great job of matching the paint then to the walls and it looked very chic, even so, the green color which you have painted them now and the inserts of the wallpaper behind the units and the ivory door and trim color which you have substituted, have all injected LIFE into this BEAUTIFUL space!
What you have achieved is much more inviting and user friendly for children ( be they young or old).
The merchandise will shine once the shelves are filled and might I also add that they way that you have configured the storage shelves is SO CLEVER!
    5 thumbs UP! :D

  8. Thanks Elizabeth! Yes, I look back at the original photos and wonder if I should've left the shelves blue, but made them less grey and scruffy. Never mind. It's green now, and I like it. I will add something else green (a cabinet or a fireplace) on the left wall and hopefully it will all tie in a bit better! I also just noticed that I accidentally posted the same photo twice! Ooops!

    1. Thanks Pei Li. I can't take credit for all of it, but some of it!! I need to get back to this project and finish the window valance I started. I always put projects aside when I get to a part that I just can't be bothered doing.
