Did a little painting

Hello everyone. A quick post to show you the cabinet I've been working on for my 1:12 doll shop. It is one of those unfinished wood ones I bought from an online UK shop (there is a whole set and I have bought quite a few). I had base painted it nearly 2 months ago, the started the painted curtains about 1 month ago, and finally finished them off last night with the dots and lacy edge. I should've made them shorter, as much of the design gets hidden, but the toys I've displayed are just props right now anyway. I will paint something across the lower front too, and maybe even add a glass shelf inside for smaller items. Then the painting would be more visible.

I hope you are all well and having warmer weather than us (-5.4 deg Saturday night, coldest in 38 years and completely destroyed half the plants in my garden). Happy mini-ing!

    1. Hi Sheila, yes I'd LOVE to trade - that is a great temperature. I deal with heat much better than cold! And thanks for the kind comments. Xx

    1. Thank you Jodi! Haven't quite decided what will be painted across the front, other than 'toys'.... a row of marching toys? Anyway, I'll figure it out. It usually starts warming up in August. We always have frosts, but only around the 0 mark. Sigh. Take care! Xx

  3. Oh but this is going to be ADORABLE! I love the painted curtains Shannon and the floral paper on the floor! The doll and toys are Super Sweet and they certainly give you the feel for what is to follow.
I love the idea of this being a small project too. You can get a lot of satisfaction when filling a smaller container rather than having to wait out the length of time it takes to do an entire house.
I look forward to viewing your next installment but really sorry to hear about your losing half of your plants to the cold weather- what a bummer. :((

    1. Hi Elizabeth. Thanks! Yes I am starting to come round to small projects like this. I tend to get hung up on projects being "whole" but I do love the idea of a "snapshot" too, especially when you just want to showcase a few things that wouldn't otherwise fill a whole project. Plus it justifies buying really amazing one-offs just because you have to have them! And yeah, I am worried about what the garden will look like in 4 months but I am sure most things will recover. They will just look crappy for a while! Haha!

Besos:-)

    1. Rosa, I understand the problem going from 8 to 28 - it gets very hard to cope with big temperature changes. We get that often in our part of Australia. And glad you like my curtains! Xx

    1. Thanks for the compliment! I will arrange some toys in there so the curtains can be seen. And the doll is one I made. I am quite happy with how she turned out. I love the teeny tiny dolls and wish I had more moulds of them. Take care! Xxx
