Sid Cooke Coxwolds store

As requested, here are some (bad) photos of my Coxwolds kit (it is tucked into a shelf unit, so hard to photograph). I love this kit, and I am really happy with how it turned out.

Little entry/stairhall on the left side (this will be aged when the timber is all finished and glued in place):

Bathroom, above the entry:

I think it is less bright in real life, a little dustier. There will be a wall at the back, yet to be inserted. I was trying to get all my wiring figured out before getting too far ahead.

I recut the doors so they were a little more detailed, and had a go at hinging the doors yesterday, and this is how it will look (not fully installed thankfully):

But when I tried to open them, this is as far as they opened:

Maybe 45 degrees. The screws for the hinges are too chunky and prevent the hinges opening fully. So I am thinking of maybe just gluing the hinges on and putting some brass brads in the holes. Or just gluing the doors in place. I'm not a doors-opening-drawers-full-everything-has-to-work person, but for photos, I think it would be cute if they did work. Any suggestions?? I know that many of you out there have some amazing work-arounds for all sorts of things.

I want to get moving on this project. And then get some patience to make flowers for this, my Mountfield and Duddingwells.

Bye for now!

    1. Hi Jenn. Yes, fiddly! I was getting pretty annoyed by the end but I feel like I need to get a little more patient with some of the mini tasks I am avoiding!

  2. Progress looks good and I like your above door detail. I haven't had to deal with your dilemma regarding the doors, therefore no suggestions - sorry but I'm sure you'll come up with something!

I have no suggestion about the door. I'll think about it.

    Besos.

    1. Thanks Pilar! And bingo! You may have the perfect solution! I like that idea. As the other doors are not yet glued together, I can easily add fabric hinges to them. Will see how that goes. Thanks again!

  5. This is such a lovely kit, and you are decorating it beautifully. The doors.....this happened me once, I had the hinges on the wrong way, and my door would only open so far! I don't know if that's any help Shannon, but it looks well anyway. Love this house!
    All the best

    1. Hi Vivian. Thanks for the complements! I thought the hinges may be on wrong, but it looks right in the instruction diagram. The problem is the diagram is so tiny, there's very little detail. Sigh.

  7. Hi Si. Glad it's not just me! I have lots of ideas, but they very often end up being very similar from one house to the next! Have a great weekend.
