Carmel cottage kit

Hello everyone. Just wanted to give an update regarding my Etsy store. I have listed another little house kit, the Carmel cottage, based on the gorgeous Hugh Comstock cottages in Carmel-by-the-sea, California. I love these houses, as well as the beautiful little town they are nestled in. I didn't get much of a look there, but enough an idea of the character. Another visit is definitely on the bucket list!

I have since mounted this little cottage onto a base with a turntable, and done a fair bit of landscaping. I love how this has turned out!

I am working on a French sofa/armchair set as well as armchairs for this cottage but they are proving difficult. There are too many curves in too many directions necessary for a good design, not to mention the fact you can't really laser cut too many foams. Anyway, hopefully by July I will have something ready. Take care everyone!

    1. Hi Sheila. Thanks! I love this vintage green too (celadon?). I wasn't sure how it would go with the yellow, but I really wanted the green and yellow. I think it works. I am hoping to get some pink flowers in the garden now, to add a little cottage colour. Have a great day!

    1. Awwww, thanks Jenn! This is one of those houses where pretty much everything in my mind's eye worked in reality, so I am pretty pleased with it. A few more bits of furniture and it will be pretty much done. Enjoy the rest of the week.

  3. I love it, Shannon. Especially because you can access the house from different sides.
    Good luck with the armchairs.

    1. Thanks Si. That is one thing I really love in dollhouses - looking from different viewpoints into other rooms, nooks, corners, etc. It adds interest and mystery I think. This one's been in my mind for so many years, it's good to finally have it out! Also, have spent some time working on a sofa - changed the construction pretty significantly and still no breakthrough. Sigh.

    1. Thanks Rosa Maria! I will show more of the interior soon. It is looking pretty good, but needs more furniture, some rugs, some pictures, just some cottage accessories. Have a great day!

    1. Thanks Norma, I do too. Makes it more real. I like to see things from a different abgle, and it provides little secret glimpses! Enjoy the rest of the weekend - hope you're keeping warm.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth! The floor plan is something I love about this house too, although there were a few compromises along the way! I have a few more bits of furniture to add, and some accessories, and will post more photos of the inside. I wish I could get the photos clearer though - I think I should try posting from the desktop computer rather than the ipad app. Have a great week!

  11. What a lovely little house. I haven't seen one this style before and like Simon, love the fact that it can be viewed from different sides.

  12. oh this is a delightful little cottage. I visited Carmel many years ago, it is lovely. I love your Mountfield house too, I like the 50's style.

    1. Hi Polly. Thanks for your lovely comment! Glad you like both of my cottages! The Mountfield is a great little house, and I'd probably do it a little differently now, but overall I like how it's turned out. Maybe it will get a few alterations one day, when the little voices of the things I dislike turn into screams of demand for change. Carmel is a great little town and I can't wait to return. Hope your week is a good one.
