Happy Easter!

Hello everyone. I have been fiddling with the contents of my mini Easter shop these last few weeks. Many things yet to add and some things in these pictures are yet to be finished, but I am really happy with how they are going. I am sure that in a couple of years I’ll pull it out again and continue working on the accessories. I have had lots of fun with these.

My little cake pops made from tiny plastic bunny heads I got from somewhere. Little metal bunny I painted inside a little plastic egg I cut a hole in and stuck on a wooden pedestal. Cupcakes I painted which were Art of Mini 3d printed ones. Cake at front from Petit D’licious.

Two metal bunnies and a chicken I painted - the cream one not yet finished. Tray from a Robin Betterley kit. I made the rather rustic eggs scattered around!

Hanging egg is another plastic egg I painted and added dimensional clay roses. The wreath is a wire circle with dry couscous stuck to it then painted.

Bunnies on the left are more metal minis I painted, as is the basket at the front left (also needs finishing).

On the shelf, another Petit D’Licious Easter treat (in the box). Pink bunny and chocolate bunny on left are also metal minis I painted and a little paper basket with wire handle I made years ago.

A little floral arrangement I made from paper flowers and floral wire moss stuff stuck in a Chrysnbon candy dish.

And a closer pic of the shelf. I think it needs some lace on the edge.

I’m not religious but I do love the colours and motifs associated with the holiday. For me, Easter has always been about spending time with family and friends, eating a bit of chocolate, enjoying the last of the warm weather. We very often went camping. One of my fondest memories is of my mum and aunt making my grandmother’s hot cross buns, with a sticky glaze, at my aunt’s beach house, and I love to make them now. I hope that however you spend the day and whatever it means to you, you enjoy the day.

  1. Dear Shannon, How lovely to explore all your Easter shop. I remember receiving the hard-shelled sugar eggs with the rose motifs when I was a child.
Easter was always spent at our beach house ... more beach shack but wonderland for a child.
I imagine you are always on the lookout to add to your collection!
    Take care.

    1. Thanks Janine! Your Easters sound lovely too - and also my aunt’s beach house was more of a shack! It was fantastic though and one day I want to make it in miniature. One of the good things about never ‘finishing’ a project is that there will always be something that catches your eye and can take a place in your collection. Enjoy your weekend. Xx

    1. Yes, and I am envious! Haha! We have had a mild summer and not ready for a cold winter. But our winter bulbs are poking through the soil so soon we will have jonquils and daffodils which will be nice.

  6. Hi Shannon! Hope your Easter was a Happy one! My fondest memories are getting to go to my grandma's house 600 miles away from home. The giant family would gather to enjoy grandma's cooking and us kids would get the most wonderful baskets filled with every kind of Easter candy, small toys, and a big chocolate bunny. Those were truly extraordinary years, and it is only now that they are gone that I realize how lucky we were to have such a family and a grandma who made it so special for us. If I had grandkids, oh boy what I would do for them!!!
The Easter shop is so lovely with all of it's beautiful pastel colored accessories! It is great that you continue to collect and create things for it's grand opening, one day! O love the couscous wreath and might like to play around with some, myself!

    1. Hi Jodi! Thanks for your comments. We did spend half of it helping my mum at her farm and the other half working on hobbies and a visit from my husband’s brother and his family. So it was lovely. I love your Easter story! That must’ve been so amazing and special - maybe it could become a mini vignette? Then you could preserve those memories and have a fun little scene. The couscous wire trick is pretty handy. I have also made 1:24 and 1:12 flowers like lilacs, wisteria and hydrangias too. It’s worth playing around with.

  7. Hi Shannon! Your Easter treats are Gorgeous! They have such variety and you have a great eye for details! The chocolate bunnies and cakes look good enough to eat! LOl! The "Spring" colors and themes are such a central part of Easter to me...it is hard to imagine it at the beginning of Winter! I look forward to seeing more of this shop!
    Stay safe! :):)

    1. Hi Betsy. Thanks for your lovely comments! It is strange being on the underside of the globe sometimes with holiday traditions. But this week I saw the first tiny jonquils flowering in our garden, and things like camellias in bloom and the roses and penstemons persisting. I don’t like winter though! Haha! Take care. X

  8. Ooh, I loved seeing all your Easter goodies. It is fantastic that you made/painted/altered so much of it yourself. We didn't decorate for Easter in our home this year because of all the other stuff going on. Now I feel inspired to work on my display for next year.

  9. Hi Megan. I can understand your lack of enthusiasm during these tough times. But also happy that you are a little inspired, that there is some hope there. Planning things is good for us and gives us something to look forward to. Have you ever read the book ‘the happiness advantage’ by Shawn Achor? It’s fascinating and a really good read. Take care.
